First Adventure ~ 3 mile hike in Auburn
Have you ever made plans only to forget something at home that changes everything ? Well that is what happened to me today. To explain why in the worId I would go on a hike in January I need to back up a little and explain. I am reading a book called “Emerge” – cracking the cocoon of media socialization by Lisa K. Dunne.
I have just started reading it and having been feeling that my family should turn off the TV and spend some time together. My husband enjoys hiking and we need to brake in our new hiking boots before our trip to Africa in a few weeks so we planned a short day trip to Auburn. He was pushing me to get some pictures taken before the end of this week so I grabbed my camera. As we made the drive I started to get excited about taking some pictures. We took a wrong turn and had to back track a little but finally found it. We unload from the car and I grabbed my camera only to find that I had left my media card on the desk. WHAT???? My plans for blogging and sharing my adventure thorough my photography was finished before it even started. So what's a girl to do?? I grabbed my iphone and headed out on the trail. The pictures are all from my i phone not what I planned. We went to Hidden Falls Regional Park in Auburn. We picked the trail to Hidden Falls which is about 3 miles round trip.
The fact that was a bathroom at the start of the trails made me smile. Having a four year old makes bathrooms exciting things.
There is a picnic table at the start of the trails.
We started by taking the unpaved trail to the right of the parking lot.
The trail is moderate and Amaya had no problem with it.
Even with the fog the views were nice.
There was lots of things for my little scientist to explore and ask questions about.
She was on poop patrol the whole 3 miles ~ yelling “that's disgusting”
While exploring we found horse tracks. We did run into some horse and Amaya loved it.
This trail has hikers, bikers, and horses.
First stop along the trail:
There was a few places to stop and rest.
Amaya took this one :)
We crossed a bridge, climbed a tree, went through a gate, had a snack and spent some time talking.
We did make it to the “finish line” to see the waterfall.
If you are still reading this ~ Thanks~ It was a great day ~ I was reminded that I can plan things but to be flexible and not sweat the small stuff. I also learned that I am so out of shape :)
